For those of you who think racism is a thing of the past...

Watch this. And this. And no, this is not some old guy who is expressing his own sad and sick point of view. There are many others around him who are laughing and encouraging him.

I'd like to say that I am shocked, but sad to say, I'm not.

  1. Well, it is indeed unfair in the context in which "we" are considering the issue. It is because much attention is given to racism, that is why the first video was translated to be a racist deed. However, I do not see the second video in the same light.
This is the same thing that is affection the school system. The authority seems to pay attention to issues that can be resolved easily. E.g. A parent telling a teacher how to treat her child when in school. If the child is willing to learn, then he/she MUST be prepared to adjust to the school policies. (Note: I know some teachers are not fit to be one)
Nonchalant attitudes of pupils towards learning and education as whole, that maybe require authorities to use a sturdy firm policy and/or action to counter. Instead we are observing long lasting attention given to these issues, which consequently hatch into even more troubling results.
For example, the Columbine massacre could have been prevented by a sturdy action of no bullying policy in schools, yet metal detectors (a baby of school shootings) now seems to be another problem.
Because "our culture" takes delight in overrating matters, that is why teaching children is fast becoming convoluted and more delicate.
Moreover, if Obama were to be Caucasian, there would not be no mention of racism, for this latter reason I think to see the action of the man in the first video as racism is an excuse to be perceived as a victim. Where then would the right to free speech of the 62year old be accepted...he was just having fun!!
Unless the minority population cease to perceive themselves under the stigma of racism, there would be no positive shift that would improve the psychological self gratification that let one have confidence and be proud of ones doings.
Issues like these are like forest fire amid dry season. Use water to quench fire when it is still controllable, don't wait to see if it will rain. And yes I don't think the first man is a racist, but I think the second man crossed the line.

(P.S - I stand to be corrected of my generalizations)
